이더리움 네트워크가 지난 2일 뮤어빙하 하드포크를 진행 한 후, 인플레이션이 3%대에서 4%대로 높아졌다. 인플레이션이 높아졌다는 것은 1년에 추가로 생성되는 이더리움이 많아졌다는 의미다.
암호화폐 공시 플랫폼 쟁글의 이더리움 온체인 통계 기간을 지난 7일간으로 분류해보면, 연간 인플레이션이 3.88%인 것을 확인할 수 있다.
뮤어빙하 하드포크가 진행된 후인 1월 6일, 지난 24시간 기간으로 분류하면 연간 인플레이션은4.36%로 확인된다.
이더리움 인플레이션 증가는 뮤어빙하 하드포크 이후, 블록생성 시간이 줄어들면서 발생했다. 쟁글에 따르면 지난 24시간 기준 블록생성시간은 13.24초이며, 7일 간을 기준으로 하나 블록생성시간은 14.83초다. 실제 암호화폐 미디어 비트코이니스트도 “이더리움 네트워크가 뮤어빙하 하드포크 진행 후, 블록생성시간이 약 25% 단축됐다”며 “이는 이더 공급을 약 25%까지 증가시킬 가능성이 있다”고 보도한 바 있다. 비트코이니스트의 보도가 쟁글 온체인 기록 상 확인된 셈이다.
이더리움은 합의 알고리즘을 작업증명(PoW)에서 지분증명(PoS)로 변경하는 ‘이더리움 2.0’ 출시를 앞두고 있다. 이더리움 2.0 이후 기존 PoW 방식의 블록체인을 사용하지 않도록 유도하기 위해 ‘난이도 폭탄’을 적용, 채굴을 어렵게 만들게 하려 했으나 2.0 출시 시기가 밀리면서 모든 일자를 미뤄야 했다. 이번 뮤어빙하 하드포크를 하지 않았다면, 블록생성시간이 기존 10초대에서 20~30초로 늘어날 것으로 전망됐었다.
