IoTeX: A Decentralized Physical Infrastructure Networks (DePIN) for Everyone
IoTeX (IOTX) is a modular infrastructure platform designed to connect smart devices and data to blockchain technology. The recently introduced IoTeX 2.0 leverages DePIN Infrastructure Modules (DIM) as the technical backbone of the DePIN ecosystem, with an ambitious goal of onboarding 100 million devices within the next 3 to 5 years. DIM is a modular technology stack that ensures the reliable integration of off-chain data into the blockchain. Its components work cohesively to deliver seamless functionality: - IoTeX Layer 1 (L1): Provides the network for data recording and smart contract execution. - ioID: Manages on-chain device identities, ensuring data verification and integrity. - W3bstream: Bridges off-chain data with the blockchain, streamlining data collection and validation processes. - Modular Security Pool (MSP): Delivers robust security, enabling DIM projects to operate with high levels of protection. The IOTX token, initially serving as the native token for transaction processing and dApp deployment on the L1 blockchain, now plays an expanded role in IoTeX 2.0. It is used for device registration, ioID issuance, and payments for DIM services. Furthermore, it facilitates re-staking via MSP, strengthens DIM security, and generates economic value by enabling data connectivity across projects and chains.
